Solicitors in Fife

Fife is a council area in Scotland, a former county, situated between the Firth of Tay and the Firth of Forth. It is a historic area, dating back to the Picts, and is still commonly known as the Kingdom of Fife within Scotland. Fife has over 350,000 inhabitants, making it the third largest local authority area in Scotland by population. There are three principal towns in Fife, Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes, which house nearly one-third of all Fife’s inhabitants. Arguably Fife’s most famous town is St Andrews, home to one of Europe’s oldest Universities and the home of the game of golf.

Fife has a diverse economy centred on a number of key industrial sectors. Central to the economy of Fife is the business and financial services sector which employs some 18,000 Fife inhabitants. Increasingly the Fife government is looking to attract investment in the renewables sector, which includes plans for an offshore wind farm and various biomass installations. Local employers include Diageo who run the large grain distillery at Cameron Bridge. Tourism also plays a key role in the local economy, bringing in over £200m of business each year.
