Care home rights

Elderly care covers the needs and rights of senior individuals. Elderly care is, for instance, provided by care homes. With age it becomes difficult for many to live at home and, although a difficult decision, the safety and comfort of a care home can be an excellent alternative.

All care homes offer accommodation, assistance with personal hygiene and an opportunity to build friendships. In order for you to get the level of care suitable for your needs, make sure you thoroughly research different forms of care homes and the services they provide.

Care homes

All care-home residents have the right to be treated with dignity and not be exposed to any form of ill-treatment, neglect or abuse. If you or a loved one has had your care-home rights breached you should contact a specialist solicitor.

Your care-home rights are the same regardless of whether the home is privately or publically administered. Both forms are obliged to conform with the provisions of the Human Rights Act 1998.

Nursing homes

Nursing homes are often suitable for those with medical needs. Some specialise in treating a certain form of condition, such as focusing in caring for individuals who are mentally infirm.

As with care homes, your nursing-care rights remain the same regardless of who runs the establishment.

Do you think your rights are being infringed?

If you have any complaints you may to address these in an informal manner by bringing them to the attention of the management. However, if your rights have been significantly violated and you are at risk you are recommended to contact authorities and a specialist solicitor immediately.
