Business Development Manager position


FindLaw UK, an entrepreneurial business unit of Thomson Reuters, is the UK arm of the world’s leading provider of online legal information and Internet marketing solutions for law firms. FindLaw UK also runs the Caven service, the UK’s leading provider of client-solicitor introduction.

The role will mainly be focussed on calling new law firms to sell them new internet solutions. Whilst experience of selling in an online capacity or into a professional customer base is preferable, we offer extensive training and personal development, so if you are professional, confident, money motivated and looking for a job with an excellent potential for growth, this would be a great opportunity to join our enthusiastic, hard working and lively team.


  • Drive revenue growth of products and solutions by meeting or exceeding both new sales and retention quotas
  • Prospect and develop new business through a high volume of strategic prospecting and account development
  • Anticipate and analyse client needs and develop strategies tailored to each organization
  • Develop and grow a rigorous pipeline with accurate forecasting
  • Report regularly on sales activity, revenue forecasts and closing timetables
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales effectiveness

Technical /professional skills & competencies

  • Selling Skills (identify, develop, & articulate proposition/ consultative selling)
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Use appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods necessary to gain acceptance of a product, service, or idea from prospects and clients
  • Keep up to date with the competitor and customer environment
  • Maintain working knowledge of products, policies and procedures and continually develops sales skills
  • Highly effective communication, presentation and research skills
  • Fully competent in Customer Relationship Management systems
